Initial Nutritional consultation 60 min

Initial Nutritional Consultation is a fact-finding session during which your full medical history will be noted, any symptoms you might be experiencing are noted as well (anything from bloating, brain fog, hair loss, pains in joints and body to swollen feet).

To gain an overview of your nutritional status and the impact it is having on your health, a nutritionist will assess your current diet and lifestyle, sometimes even refer you for further pathology testing if need be to determine which path or nutritional protocol is best for YOU.

You will leave with recommended dietary and supplement advice specific to your goals.

Depending on the nature of your visit you might be booked in for a follow-up appointment in 3-4 weeks to further assess your progress.

  • Health fund rebates for Nutritionist are available with most health funds. If you are unsure if you are covered for Nutrition services, we urge you to contact your fund directly.

*Pathology test and supplements are not included in the consultation cost.

Follow up appointment 30 min

Once you had your initial nutritional consultation next step is to have follow up appointment so we can monitor your progress.

Body Composition Scan

Before starting any diet plans find out your body fat percentage, hydration levels, basal metabolic rate, visceral fat levels, metabolic age and your basal metabolic rate.

    • Body Fat Percentage is the proportion of fat to the total body weight.
    • Body Fat Mass is the actual weight of fat in your body.
    • Total Body Water– Body water is an essential part of staying healthy. Over half the body consists of water. It regulates body temperature and helps eliminate waste.  Being well hydrated helps concentration levels, sports performance, and general wellbeing.
    • Visceral Fat is located deep in the core abdominal area, surrounding and protecting the vital organs. Ensuring you have a healthy level of visceral fat directly reduces the risk of certain diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure and may delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.
    • Muscle Mass includes the skeletal muscles, smooth muscles such as cardiac and digestive muscles and the water contained in these muscles. Muscles act as an engine in consuming energy.
    • Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)-The daily minimum level of energy or calories your body requires when at rest (including sleeping) in order to function effectively.
    • Metabolic Age-This is calculated by comparing your basal metabolic rate (BMR) to the BMR average of your chronological age group. If your metabolic age is higher than your actual age, it’s an indication that you need to improve your metabolic rate. Increased exercise will build healthy muscle tissue, which in turn will improve your metabolic age. Stay on track by monitoring regularly.

About Mirela Simic-Nutritionist and Personal Trainer

Having worked in high-pressure jobs for over 10 years, moving countries, starting a family and opening my own PT studio I know that the busy lifestyle in combination with our genetics can take a toll on health as I have spent over 3 years with chronic fatigue, completely burned out experiencing pains in the body, memory problems, digestive problems, inability to function and whole other range of symptoms.

I tried seeing a couple of medical specialist and naturopaths but non has helped me so I decided to become a nutritionist myself. Years of studying and implementing what I have learned allowed me to achieve better health, and better manage my symptoms.

My speciality is working with people that are experiencing chronic health conditions, hormonal imbalances, digestive disorders and autoimmune conditions. Symptoms such as; hot flushes, mood swings, sleeplessness, forgetfulness, fatigue, bloating, hair loss, consistent hunger and weight gain, can be extremely uncomfortable and even stressful for many. But this doesn’t have to be the case! There are nutritional and supplementation approaches that can help in better managing those health conditions.

When working with clients, I focus on restoring vitality by improving nutrition, adding specific nutrients that might be lacking, and making lifestyle modifications as required.

Our clients get amazed at how fast they start feeling better by making small changes in their nutrition and lifestyle.

Here’s what some of our clients have to say:

“Amazing results. Never felt better with the meal plan provided. Her professionalism and caring nature just amazing. Thank you so much Mirela”

Dora Mantikos

“…really helped educate me on how to look after my body. Both nutrition and training wise. I lost 15 kg and put on lean muscle in just 3 months.”                                              Joe Knights

“…she offers me the world of education in all areas of my health. So great to be able to ask someone about health, wellbeing, nutrition etc.”

Amanda Dounis

“…in short time I started feeling better and having more energy just by implementing nutritional changes and taking couple prescribed supplements. Been so happy with my progress, not to mention how much better and more confident I’m feeling about training every session.”

Vicky Papadopoulos

“I have been experiencing bloating, fatigue and brain fog for a couple years and I almost gave up after seeing numerous doctors and specialist who couldn’t find anything that would explain how I felt. After seeing Mirela and implementing nutritional changes she recommended and prescribed supplements I started feeling better. After working with her for 3 months I am finally having more energy, thinking clearly and not experiencing any more bloating.”

Anita Benikovic

“I have been suffering from inflammatory arthritis more than 10 years now and have accepted that that’s just the way things are when you get older. My friend saw Mirela and she helped her with her health so I thought why not? After a decade of being in constant pain and taking medications, I am now pain- free! I never knew that there were healthy foods that can make my pain worse, Mirela helped me by formulating nutritional and supplement plan for me. I can’t thank her enough.”

I have tried so many diets in the past, how will your service be different?

We get this question a lot!

There are a number of reasons why diets in the past have not worked:

    • They are often unbalanced and do not meet your nutritional requirements so you are left feeling hungry, which can lead to over eating later on
    • They may not fit in with your particular lifestyle
    • They often set unrealistic standards and are not sustainable in the long term, despite being effective in the short term
    • They may have required you to avoid certain food groups leaving you with the risk of developing vitamin and mineral deficiencies
    • They often allow you to lose a significant amount of weight in the early stages, which then plateaus off causing you to lose motivation, reverting back to old habits.

Healthy living is a long journey, we will work with you to set realistic and achievable goals and provide you with the support to help you achieve those goals through individual eating and lifestyle plans. We will teach you to understand and read your own body, hunger and satiety cues as well as equip you with crucial skills that allow you to make educated food choices in the long run.

Do I have to come in for the consultation?

No, we also offer Skype, face time and phone call consultations.

I paid for Comprehensive Health Screening online, what is next step?

Once we receive confirmation of your payment you will receive an email with the links to surveys after you have submitted them online our nutritionist will schedule time in the schedule to analyze and interpret your answers and to formulate the nutritional plan. Once your plan is finished you will receive it via email along with times available for 20 min phone consult that is included in the cost of comprehensive health screening.

Are prescribed supplements included in the cost of nutritional consultation?

No, prescribed supplements are not included in the cost of the consultation.

Do I need to get a blood test done before seeing a nutritionist?

You don’t need to do any blood test before seeing a nutritionist if there is a need for any further pathology testing our nutritionist will refer you further to your GP or pathology laboratory. If you do have any recent blood test it would be beneficial if you could bring them with you when you are coming for your nutritional consultation.

What can I expect from initial nutritonal appointment?

The initial consultation is fact finding only. Please bring with you copies of pathology results (if you have these) as well as any other test results you may have. Please also bring with you a list or picture of all medication and supplements you are currently taking. During this appointment, a full and comprehensive health history is taken (there are no irrelevant details), your symptoms are noted (everything from bloating to sore feet) and I’ll finish by asking you this question: “What are you looking to achieve from this session?”.

You will leave with couple dietary modifications and I might prescribe you supplements to take.

I want to lose weight, can you help me?

Yes BUT please be prepared to accept that there might be more to consider than just your weight. What is driving the weight problem? Thyroid, hormones, emotional stuff? I don’t do quick fixes. We need to get to the bottom of all of this so that any changes made are for life. To summarize I don’t want you just to lose weight, I want you to achieve your optimum health and learn how to maintain it for life.

Do I need to order supplements you prescribed? Cant I just buy something at the supplement shop?

What I have access to is quite frankly incomparable to what they sell in chemists and supermarkets. Therapeutically dosed supplements properly formulated are quite more potent, bioavailable and better grade products that get results.

I am booked in for a body scan, can I eat or drink before the scan?

It is recommended that you are in a fasted state 1.5 h prior to our bod scan so we could get an accurate reading.

Do you have a cancelation policy?

We have a 24-hour cancellation notice policy. A charge may be incurred if 24-hour notice for cancellations is not provided. If cancellation or failure to attend occurs under special circumstances, consideration will be given and this charge may be waived.
